Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy

The UCM physiotherapists will be qualified to work in various professional settings, including: public Hospitals and Private Clinics – Rehabilitation Center – Surgeries- Social health centers-International cooperation organizations – Gyms- Wellness center – SPA – Sports Teams as well as private pratice.

With theoretical knowledge and manual skills, empathy and organization, preventive and rehabilitation techniques, the Physiotherapy course is a complete, rigorous and professional course. In addition to training students in the practice of physiotherapist, the degree course in physiotherapy also deals with the art of Care in the highest high of the term: from private to public, from sports to clinics, from sociopathy to international cooperation. The graduates in Osteopathy, Physical Educational, Science of Sport and Massotherapists can register for the course and request recognition of credits ECTS.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy Honours – MFQ: Level 6, Mode of Study: full time, Duration: 4 years, credits: 240, Language: Italian and English, issued by UCM United Campus of Malta HEI Foundation, is accredited by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education1 and is based on the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF).
The Malta Qualifications Framework is mapped against:
– the European Qualification Framework ;
– the Qualifications Frameworks in the European Higher Education Area (QF/EHEA)3 ;
– the Transnational Qualifications Framework (TQF) .

The UCM graduate in Physiotherapy will also have the faculty of:

a)accessing the procedure for issuing the Eu Professional Card, as provided for by EU Directive 55/2013 (art. 55 b, legislative decree 206/2007).

b)requesting the recognition of the professional qualification to the national regulatory bodies for the exercise and qualification of the profession, if he wishes to exercise the profession outside the Maltese territory. In this respect, each State may, at its discretion, request a traineeship supplement or a supplementary examination or other (See Directive 2005/36/EC and Directive 2013/55/EU).

If the graduate wishes to practice the physiotherapist profession in Italy, will need to submit an application to the Italian Ministry of Health, in order to obtain its recognition.

It should be noted that UCM will assist the graduate in the bureaucratic process aimed at obtaining recognition of the professional qualification.

c)requesting the academic recognition of the qualification (obtaining the corresponding Italian qualification) from an Italian University of preference (pursuant to art. 2, Law 148/2002 of the Italian Law).

d)requesting non-academic recognition in Italy for access to public competitions from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department of Public Administration – P.P.A. Office (pursuant to Art. 38 of Legislative Decree 165/2001 and Art. 2 of Presidential Decree 189/2009 of the Italian regulatory framework).

It should be noted that UCM will assist the graduate in the bureaucratic process aimed at obtaining recognition of the professional qualification.

The Physiotherapy graduates are health professional.They implement individually or in teams with other professionals in the field of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, in case of pathological and / or traumatic events, congenital or acquired.They plan rehabilitation programs aimed at meeting patients’ health needs, in according with the medical diagnosis; they perform treatments for functional rehabilitation for motor, psychomotor and cognitive disabilities, using physical, manual and massage therapies.The they can recommend the use of prosthetics, and they instruct the patients for to use these instruments and they verify if the recovery objectives are achieved.They carry out study teaching and professional consulting in health services.
